If you’re looking to give your home a more luxurious interior feel, the first step of your home design makeover has to be getting rid of all the clutter so you can create more open space. Bland Pillows Have Got To Go
Throw pillows or cushions on your couch need to feel like they belong. It’s pointless having single-coloured cushions that add absolutely no character to your furniture. Instead, opt for something that is textured or metallic, maybe even patterned. You’ll want to choose a colour scheme that works with the rest of the room and sticks with it. If you feel that the throw pillows are not working for you, then get rid of them.
Something as simple as switches can make a room look luxurious. Nowadays, there are plenty of options to choose from, which means you can ditch your boring white panels for wood finishes or even a classy matte black look. While you’re at it, changing up some of the other fixtures in your home such as the lights or lampshades in your living room or the drawer handles on your kitchen cabinets can drastically improve the look and feel of your home.
Depending on how your windows are oriented, you can create a luxury feel by accentuating the light that comes into the room. This can be done in a couple of ways. Firstly, you’ll want to have a light colour scheme. Whites and off-whites work perfectly for bouncing off light and automatically brightening up a room.
Secondly, a strategically placed mirror, if big enough, can also do the same by amplifying the light coming through, and creating the illusion of space. A great tip would be to use mirrors to create a feature wall with ornate photo frames. That will definitely add character and a touch of class to any room.
How you treat your windows can really change the look of your home. When designing luxury interiors, windows are high on the priority list. If possible, try and position curtain railings as close to the ceiling as possible to create the illusion of height. Complement that with extra-length curtains in a chic neutral colour. It’s also advisable to dress your window sills with trim for that extra touch of class.
Probably one of the easiest steps to a home design makeover is a fresh coat of paint. If your furniture and fixtures are dark, then opt for a light colour for the walls. Not only will this make the rooms look bigger, but it will help amplify the light coming through. A good luxury interior palette to stick to would be neutral tones such as cinnamon, cream, or beige. If you want to go for something darker, you can try midnight blue, grey, or charcoal.
Finally, swap out the carpet for hardwood floors, and a rug. Yes, a rug. You may not realize it, but a good rug can completely transform the look of your room. A well-placed and good-looking rug is the touch of luxury that is at the center of every interior designer's playbook.

For example, An area rug underneath a dining table should be 36” wider than the table (on all sides) to ensure smooth chair movement. Also, In the living room, the rug should be big enough so that the front legs of the furniture stand on top of it.
