Since you’ve been locked in your homes for over a month now, chances are you have had a lot of time to do some spring cleaning. During that time you may have also stared at your walls long enough to have become a bit bored with the current state of your luxury villa’s interior design. Well, don’t fret! Here are 6 simple DIY interior designs that will spruce up your living areas, and not break the bank. Moreover, these tips are so simple, you won’t need anything more than what you already have at home.
Most of us have some antique plates lying around. Even if we don’t, chances are we have a number of odd plates that belong to sets that have lost a couple of their mates in a few dishwashing accidents. So instead of stashing them away and never using them, make a feature wall by hanging up a few of those plates – the more random they are, the better the effect.
You don’t have to be the next Picasso or Rembrandt to decorate your walls. All you need is a canvas and some oil paints, and maybe a big pitcher of Sangria to get the creative juices flowing! In fact, doing oil paintings on canvas can be a fun family activity to get the kids involved. Once you’re done, hang your pictures up on the wall and take pride in your work. If you’re not too keen on oil paintings, a couple of framed puzzles will make for great DIY interior designs instead.
If you’re particularly crafty, maybe you can try your hand at repurposing old furniture. By taking apart an old wooden dining table and some chairs, you could probably build yourself a brand-new bookshelf or shoe rack. You are only limited by your imagination. A luxury villa such as those at Kasu Vana set in the beautiful Assagao forests can benefit greatly from the rustic look of repurposed furniture.
A fun way to spruce up your shelves around the house and add to your DIY interior designs is by making ornamental displays. All you need are a few glass jars of different sizes. In those, you can add anything from potpourri, glass marbles, legos, sand, and seashells, or if you’re in the mood to get crafty, pull out some macaroni or farfalle pasta (the bow-shaped pasta) and paint them different colours. These jars are sure to brighten up even the dullest of spaces.
You can jazz up even the most boring wall with a beautiful framed mirror. You might feel that one or two walls in your luxury villa are bare, so spruce it up with a mirror. You have various options with regard to frames. From simple black borders to over-the-top, wooden antique appliques, the more outrageous the frame is – the better! Plus, having framed mirrors is always useful, and adds depth.
In this day and age, we’re quite content with storing thousands of pictures on our phones or computers. Now that you have the time, sift through those memories and consider choosing a few to frame. You can easily get your pictures printed and framed, and use them to create a family feature wall or create a collection of pictures from a particular family trip. Having a picture feature wall is a great talking point and a wonderful way to keep some memories alive.
