People are increasingly opting to invest in homes equipped with a private pool. The allure of having your very own pool just steps away is undeniable. This real estate investment in Goa goes beyond mere luxury and promises a host of advantages. It offers a tranquil space for relaxation, a cool-off spot during the hot summers, and an ideal setting for intimate gatherings like pool parties. Moreover, swimming is a low-impact exercise that helps keep the body fit.

To fully enjoy these benefits indefinitely, regular maintenance is crucial. There are a myriad of ways to care for a private pool to ensure optimal pool health. While some tasks can be managed independently, seek professional assistance when necessary.

Tips on Private Pool Maintenance

Regular Skimming and Cleaning

A pool is susceptible to getting polluted with unavoidable debris collection like leaves, insects, and other biological matter. There is a basic mesh-type basket cleaner that can be manually used to collect debris, and there are powered devices that are installed for water circulation and cleaning of the pool.

There are two types of devices: gutter-type and wall-mounted skimmers. The solid waste accumulates within multiple consecutive skimmer basket filters, each equipped with a finer mesh to effectively sift through different-sized contaminants. If the pool is left unchecked, organic waste will collect and decay, thereby degrading the quality of the water over time. Despite an electronic device in place, use a sieve basket skimmer to eradicate any debris before using the pool. Moreover, when the pool is not being used for long periods of time, consider covering the pool with a cover to avoid any debris collection.

Filter Maintenance

The pool is fitted with an electronically operated water pump, where the water is run through a filter and then rerouted to the pool. This filtration system plays a key role in eliminating impurities and making certain that the water is clean. Regularly clean or backwash the filter to ensure its proper and continued functioning. Refer to the specific instructions given by the manufacturer for improved functioning. Conduct a deep clean of the filter every six to twelve months.

Maintain Proper Water Chemistry

Monitor and accordingly adjust the pool's pH, alkalinity, and chlorine levels to maintain water hygiene and safety. Ensure the pH level is somewhere between 7.2 and 7.6 to optimise the efficiency of chlorine. This is important for any algae eradication. For a span of 12 to 24 hours, continually run the pool filter and add chlorine-based shock at the recommended dosage to kill algae. Follow the same process until the water condition improves. The algae will turn white or grey and float along the water or get settled on the floor or walls. Scrub and vacuum the walls and floor to eradicate any algae accumulation and prevent it from entering the filter as it may result in the algae’s speedy return. Regularly test the water using a pool testing kit and balance these chemical levels as needed to prevent algae growth, eye irritation, and bacterial contamination.

Servicing of the Mechanical Room

Maintaining and servicing the mechanical room equipment is important for efficient pool operation. This room has several machinery that may require some fine-tuning from time to time. The servicing and upkeep of this room should be carried out by professional pool experts. They overlook the entire functioning of this room and ensure that all equipment remains in optimal condition.

By adhering to these maintenance practices, homeowners can be certain that their private pool remains in optimal condition. By simply remaining attentive to the pool's condition homeowners can ensure this space continues to be a source of relaxation, enjoyment, and entertainment for years to come.
