The foundations of any successful company that grows with its customer base, are its values. It is the founder(s) of the company who lives by those tenets and leads from the front. Sisters Dhruthi and Jyotsna Reddy Kasu are those two pillars of Kasu Assets, with their combined knowledge, experience and passion for creating quality luxury homes. 

The person behind the design ethos at Kasu is Dhruthi Reddy Kasu, a design enthusiast, a Bachelor’s in Architecture and a Master in Graphic Design, who keeps the engine of the company running at optimum efficiency. With her background in architecture and design, as well as a keen eye for detail, Dhruthi takes it upon herself to ensure a quality product. She works with the architect and interior designer on the overall aesthetic of each project. She picks the materials that need to be used, and even looks at the overall functionality of every home. Focussing on even the minutest detail is what makes a Kasu home a well-polished, functional yet luxurious product. 

What inspired you and your sister to create Kasu Assets?

As part of the real estate industry, we noticed that the demand for holiday homes was rising but customers faced a lot of pain points. Many were not happy with the products on offer. We solved all existing issues and pain points by conceptualising a company that would build high end aspirational homes, with add on services included. For example, we take care of our customers’ interests from a legal and financial aspect as well, while also creating and maintaining the product in keeping with our high quality standards. The added advantage of a higher ROI on investment, in terms of rentals, than anywhere else in the country, makes Goa an ideal place for such homes. 

What are some of the challenges you face as a women-led company in a male-dominated industry?

Considering our education and experience, many aspects of the job came quite naturally to us. But there was a lot we had to learn on the job. We faced serious competition early on, when another brand attempted to appropriate our design ethos. But we managed to handle the situation well. In the initial stages, we had to prove ourselves to those with more experience than us. My sister and I are two women who are hardworking and motivated, as are many around us. We hone our knowledge, our skills and expertise and we aim to stand out in a crowd. There’s so much more that can be accomplished when you work together as a team. 

Tell us a bit about your education and work history

I passed out of National Public School and then went on to study architecture at RV School of Architecture, both in Bangalore where I grew up. After my Bachelor’s in Architecture, I completed a Master of Graphic Design from the University of the Arts in London. I then interned with Thomas Architects in Bangalore. Then started my first job at Nchant3D, which is now known as Musion Holograms India. I worked with my sister at the company, which made the Guinness Book of Records for work we did for Narendra Modi in 2012 and 2015. In 2015, I started VynVyn.com, which is a company that works in the social responsibility sector. 

What do you love doing outside of work?

I have always been a voracious reader, and read everything from non-fiction to graphic novels, which I love. Apart from that, I’m fascinated by all things design and architecture.
